Violence is nothing foreign to our existence as human beings. From day one, we have separated and feared what we perceive as different or unknown. Differences and stereotypes all exist for a laundry list of reasons. None of which includes justification of causing physical harm to another human purely for the color of our skin. In 2016 and all the times history has already repeated itself we as a species should know better by now. Violence is nothing new, our technology however is constantly improving and making it so nearly all parts of our lives are documented somehow.
I felt moved to do this piece inspired by the religious song I remember singing as a child.
“red and yellow, black and white, all are precious in his sight” I am sadden that at the end of it I realized that I did the colors on my face backwards so when you the audience are looking at it you see yellow red white black….so I don’t know that it has the impact I wanted it to have. Needless to say I am thrilled that of all the paints I have done this one is the one that has been shared on facebook the most and receiving “likes” and reactions still.
Thank you for taking the time to follow me. You are what keep starving artist eating. Even if you never buy a drop of paint from me...Just knowing people think they are worth looking at is pretty cool.
