Not everyone wants to invest a ton of money on or on face-paints that they will rarely use. This is an idea that is very inexpensive and little artistic skill is needed to create this conversation piece.
First the investments. You will need to acquire a plain face mask, the shape of the mask is up to you. I chose the most common simple eye mask for the sake of the tutorial. You will also need acrylic paint in red, white, black and a flesh color that is slightly darker than your skin, I added some yellow but that is an elaboration that is not necessary to pull the look off. The reason for Acrylic is that it will dry and become touchable. it will crack under extreme facial movements but will stay durable enough to last a party. As an extra splurge but not required I personally enjoy using the multi serf ace acrylic paint.
Paint the mask as close to your skin color as you can and draw on eyebrows. with this, simple is key. if you want to add some red (blood) to the outer edge that will only add to the look.
First thing you do is put the mask on and trace the outer edge and the inside edge of the eyes with eyeliner pencil or marker. now remove the mask. you will see the shape you will now color in with red, if you would like to get fancy look at a picture of face muscles in the face and use the black and white to draw muscle lines inside the red area only. BE SURE NOT TO PAINT YOUR EYES! Remember they are to be left alone, your normal skin color or eye makeup is OK, this will give the illusion that the mask was cut off your face, the mask has no eyes so your eyes would not be affected.
now take the flesh color you have and trace around the red you have colored in this will shadow the cut and make it look as if the skin is lifted adding depth. now take black and trace between the red and the flesh color creating the hard separation. this is key. This is best and will look more natural. I use a thick brush so my line is a bit more noticeable than I wanted.
congratulations at this point you can call it quits, done. but if you want you can elaborate on the look, the more gory it is the more recent the cutting will appear for example if you add a layer of fake blood it will look glossy and drips will give the appearance of active bleeding a sign of a new injury. I chose to keep it clean.
Thank you for taking the time to follow me. You are what keep starving artist eating. Even if you never buy a drop of paint from me...Just knowing people think they are worth looking at is pretty cool.
