For those of you who do not watch the cartoon Rick and Morty (in my opinion) is a twisted cartoon version of Dr. Who. In the cartoon we see lots of versions of the main characters in alternate universes. The game is a brilliant adaptation of that fact using the Pokemon game play style. The game is like watching a show, it has a lot of hidden humor and is very sandbox style in that you can go wherever you want. In the game you play a version of Rick who has a main Morty that follows you. (Pokemon Yellow shout out) the object of the game is to collect different versions of Morty. (All the variations have appeared in the cartoon at some point and the game is full of fun references to the show.)
The Mortys in the game are different in that some are rock type, paper type or scissor type. ( Only your main Morty is not type specific) the power house is the rock, paper, scissor game so if you are fighting a paper type Morty is better to select a scissor Morty.
But what is the fun of collecting without fighting right? Well other characters are collecting Mortys as well so you fight them throughout the unique alternate universe levels to reach a main Rick of that “world” fight him and get a badge…get enough badges to fight a council member Rick and eventually win the game taking down the council one Rick at a time. I really enjoy the game and find it hard to put down. The only improvement I can think of is making it so I can battle other people like the Pokemon franchise allowed.
And now a spoiler: A lesson I learned the hard way to spare you the heartache, the egg Morty that you will receive early in the game will be the most worthless looking Morty you have…and it is. Until it reaches level 20 then you have a very powerful fighter. Why is that a hard lesson? Because I had my strategy figured out, I would level my main Morty up and make him the most powerful. So I immediately used any power up seeds I won/found on him. But If I had known I could have saved them all and used them on the egg Morty. Leveling him up is the hardest thing to do because he is so weak. The only other way I have found is to try and use a Meeseeks box ( a one shot kill attack item) as his attack to give him a win and experience.
Thank you for taking the time to follow me. You are what keep starving artist eating. Even if you never buy a drop of paint from me...Just knowing people think they are worth looking at is pretty cool.
